we are The Dumbest Generation apparently

So, I don't know if I should be the one writing about this topic, because yes, I am included in this generation, but I just don't agree.

It feels like the author is clumping us into one huge group: we are all dumb and everyone is alike.

I just can't agree, I'm sure (even though I haven't conducted any research) that even though the statistics could be a little off, I'm sure the generations before us had the same kind of people; the brains, the athletes, the popular ones.  I'm sure it's the same now, except there has been many advancements.  And that's not to say that that is a bad thing, but not to mention MY generation did not invent the Internet, nor YouTube.  We are just using it, and if anything we know how to use all of it better than the author.  I mean, my generation is more hip on technology, but that does not mean we don't have people who are still interested in the arts, or history, or the things in life that mattered to people years ago.  I'm sure some people from my generation don't even like technology.  I know it also depends on how we use the Internet and all these digital devices, but if anything it's about time management.  That's one thing our generation could work more on, and communication (sad to say but there is too much texting).  But still, I'm sure there are plenty of adults who use these devices, and guess what, these devices were only made to improve something or to make our lives easier.

The thing I do agree on is yes, I do blame the teachers and the parents and the generations before us.  We are who we are because of these people before us and the people in our lives.  I do blame the teachers who haven't gotten through to their students, because otherwise what can be so different from other generations?  In past generations there have been the people who haven't done well in school and the people who succeeded so much that people are fascinated by them.  If we are so dumb, I do blame it on our parents.  What did they do differently that past generation's parents didn't?  Maybe both parents were out of the house and working jobs unlike past generations, so what?  If anything, it was for the best.  I think my generation is all about change.  If we want to change things we obviously would know something about history and why would want to change it in the first place.  I believe we are capable of change.

And I don't think the Digital Age stupefies us, if anything it probably makes the author feel dumb that he doesn't get how the world is changing.  I guess no one likes change, but it's inevitable.  And the part about us jeopardizing your future?  Well, all I can say is that we probably aren't, we could be changing it for the better, and if anything, a lot of past generations would have a hard time stopping us now!
